E-Waste Drawing Series

 

I started the e-waste drawing series after learning about the electronics recycling industry. Our disposal rates are so overwhelming, that we can no longer keep up with recycling. This is why billions of pounds of materials get illegally shipped to developing countries, transforming entire towns and cities into electronic landfills reminiscent of sci-fi movie scenes. There, locals are employed to process the waste by hand, often with the aid of hazardous chemicals, and unsafe dismantling processes.

My explorations led me to consider not only physical waste, but also the waste we create digitally. I became interested in visualizing all the invisible signals and waves that fly around us, and the incredible amount of digital information that is created on a daily basis…
